in the past 2 months, i've driven from seattle to louisiana and back - counting a side-trip to mississippi, i went through 14 states. on the way down, washington, oregon, california, arizona, new mexico, texas, and louisiana. on the way back i passed through texas again, oklahoma, kansas, colorado, wyoming, utah, and idaho before i got back to the northwest.
my least favorite drivers were in the following states:
1. california - no matter how fast you go, california drivers will ride your ass.
2. washington- if a road has 6 lanes, a washington driver will used them all, usually within a 100-yard stretch
3. texas - putting on your signal to change lanes is an invitation for texas drivers to accelerate into your blind spot and sit there.
4. louisiana - they haven't had cars there for very long, and in the south people are more accustomed to driving boats. everybody drives really fast and really random.
5. arizona - every other car on the road is a state trooper.

utah and kansas had the best drivers. wyoming and eastern oregon, well, there were no other drivers. seriously. spent at least half my time in wyoming without another vehicle in sight, and if you look at a map of I-84 in eastern oregon from idaho to washington, i drove at least half of that stretch completely alone.
