Nov. 10th, 2009 04:02 pmthere's a good many things going on these days.
i'm all lined up to go to spokane for distilling class next week. then a 48-hour turn around, and i'm in louisiana for the week of thanksgiving. i'm in the process of getting the house squared away for my absence, mostly things regarding the critters and their various medications. we almost lost pugsley a few weeks ago - his kidneys are going, and his blood chemistry is so jacked up that i've had to put him on a low-phosphorous diet that i modeled on what human dialysis patients eat.
this morning when i got up, news that an old co-worker had died was waiting for me.

foster was a good old guy. he'd been at that restaurant since day one.
too bad i'll be out of town by the time the old gang puts together a memorial.
now that the economy is doing a little better, i've been able to move some of my cafe stuff. i'm practically giving it away, but we need to reclaim the garage from the mountain of stuff which now fills it. one day, we'll be able to park in it again. i just wish the craigslist people would stop asking me to drive this stuff across the state for them. i've started ignoring responses that don't contain a phrase similar to "i'll come and get it".
if you've ever been in the pacific northwest in the fall, you'll know that the dark and drizzlies are now upon us. the leaf-o-pocalypse is almost done. only the toughest of the deciduous trees still have any leaves. i've got about a tree and a half to go before all mine are bare. the back garden is mostly mulched in for the winter. i'm stuck here all day tomorrow waiting for the cable guy, so i think i'll finish putting it to bed while i wait. it's going to be really nice next year.
