yay caturday!

tory's off to play reverend and marry some people. they wrote their vows, and she wrote the service - it's geekalicious. filled with star wars, lord of the rings, and babylon 5 references. i think all parties involved will, when they aren't fighting back tears of joy, will be stifling laughter.

the giant monster cherry tomatoes have to be an heirloom variety. some of the vines are 8+ feet long. that's way too big for something meant to be harvested by machine. it's loaded with green tomatoes, now it's just a matter of waiting for color. the rest of the garden is doing well. some of the muscadines are almost up to the trellis. looks like it'll be next year before they are on the wire and i'll be able to take the guards and stakes down. had a thinderstorm last week that knocked over the gladiolus. i'll know to stake them next year. they are hands down the prettiest flowers i've ever grown. the mint patch has gone to flower, and during the day it looks as if someone has dumped a beehive into it. i bet that's some good-tasting honey. the wisteria is huge. i need to find the camera.

ticky tweaked her bad knee again. we're looking at more surgery. she was feeling a little too perky and hit the stairs a little too fast. she's been a tripod dog since.

i had the most awesome birthday ever last week. even though i had my paranoia dialed up to 11, they still got me with a surprise party. if tory ever decides to murder me, i don't stand a chance. i'll never see it coming. she'd make a good spy. or a serial killer.

i'm doing a crab boil at sister-in-law's tonight. we've got a couple of coonasses in town, and have to show off our giant crabs.

neighbor kitty visits for the attention, not for the food. i haven't put any out for her in over a week because i don't want her to adopt us - i know what mercenaries cats can be, but she still show up every morning and every evening to walk around the yard with me. if i stop moving, she's all up in my business looking for attention. if she belongs to who i think she belongs to, i can understand this - people who treat their pets more like yard ornaments than family members. i know their dogs are always outside. i doubt they give their cats much more attention. she's spayed, clean, and well-fed, so i won't begrudge her the back scratches.

i think my mexican neighbors are having a kiddie birthday today. from what i could see through the hedge, it looks like they have a bouncy house spread out in their backyard. they have a very happy house. you never hear them bitching at each other like my other neighbors.

time to change out of the jammies and find food. there are things i need to do that won't do themselves.
